13-Year-Old Girl Hit by Car in Maple Ridge, Driver Under Investigation

Police in Maple Ridge are currently investigating a traffic incident that occurred on 102 Avenue, involving a pickup truck and a 13-year-old girl on Monday morning.

According to the Ridge Meadows RCMP, the young pedestrian was using a designated crosswalk at 242B Street around 8 a.m. when she was hit by a pickup truck traveling eastbound on 102 Avenue. Fortunately, the driver stayed at the scene following the collision.

Emergency responders from the BC Emergency Health Services promptly attended to the injured girl and transported her to the hospital. Brian Twaites, a spokesperson for BCEHS, confirmed that the girl was in serious but stable condition.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP Frontline team is actively investigating the incident, considering various factors such as weather and road conditions that might have contributed to the crash.

Following the incident, road closures in the vicinity were put in place briefly but have since been reopened for normal traffic flow. Anyone who witnessed the accident is urged to reach out to the police at 604-463-6251 to provide any relevant information.
