Mario Roy, a farmer from Beauce, Quebec, has stepped up to announce his bid for leadership in the Quebec Liberal Party, following in the footsteps of Charles Milliard. Roy is seeking assistance to clear an $18,000 debt from his previous leadership campaign and is urging the public to visit his website to sign his nomination papers and contribute to his cause.
During his announcement in Saint-Jules, Roy emphasized the importance of financial support to enable him to participate in the upcoming leadership race. In order to qualify for the new campaign, Roy needs to raise $15,000 in donations and obtain 750 signatures from Liberal members by Feb. 13. This presents a significant challenge for the 32-year-old farmer, who faces hurdles due to his limited name recognition.
In contrast, Charles Milliard continues to build momentum within the Liberal caucus, with endorsements from key figures like MNA Frédéric Beauchemin of Marguerite-Bourgeoys. The political landscape in Quebec is evolving as candidates like Roy and Milliard vie for leadership positions in the PLQ.
