Authorities in Port Coquitlam are currently looking into an alleged incident involving a weapon that occurred over the weekend.
The incident unfolded around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday near the junction of Shaughnessy Street and Kingsway Avenue, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered a victim with non-life-threatening injuries who was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, the alleged assailant managed to flee the area before the arrival of the Coquitlam RCMP.
The General Investigation Section has since taken charge of the case to probe further into the matter.
Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, authorities have not yet been able to interview them.
Authorities suspect that the victim was not acquainted with the perpetrator and are seeking assistance from any potential witnesses who might help in identifying the suspect. The police believe the suspect is male.
Acting Cpl. George Han urged anyone with relevant information, CCTV footage, or recordings from cellphones or dash-cams in the vicinity of the 2800 block of Shaughnessy Street between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to reach out to investigators and reference file number 2026-931.
