Early-Morning Blaze Engulfs NDG: Police Launch Investigation into Mysterious Fire

Montreal authorities are currently investigating a fire that occurred early in the morning at a restaurant located in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood.

The incident was reported to emergency services around 2 a.m. following a 911 call regarding flames spotted at the Monkland Grill restaurant’s terrace, situated near the intersection of Ave. Somerled and Besborough Ave. Firefighters swiftly responded and managed to extinguish the fire, with reports indicating only minor damage.

Preliminary findings suggest the presence of incendiary materials at the scene, leading authorities to consider the possibility of arson. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the restaurant was closed during the time of the incident.

The area has been cordoned off as investigators prepare to delve further into the case. Surveillance footage from nearby cameras will be scrutinized as part of the ongoing inquiry. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the fire.

Authorities have highlighted a prior incident in June 2025, although it remains uncertain whether there is any link between the two occurrences.
