Montreal police have apprehended four individuals and are actively searching for two more in connection with an alleged illegal car export operation. The investigation, which commenced in November 2025 in partnership with the RCMP, has unveiled a network believed to have stolen a total of 14 vehicles valued at around $1.15 million. Fortunately, authorities have recovered twelve of the vehicles, either from shipping containers at the Port of Montreal or from discreet “cooling” spots scattered across the island.
Early Wednesday morning, police conducted searches and made arrests in the Plateau-Mont-Royal, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, and Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension areas. One of the arrested individuals is 18-year-old Kento Doi, who was brought before the Montreal courthouse on Jan. 15 to face charges ranging from motor vehicle theft to possession of stolen goods, conspiracy, and trafficking.
Additionally, two other suspects, aged 15 and 17, were apprehended and subsequently released pending their appearance in the Youth Division of the Quebec Court. A fourth suspect, aged 19, was let go without charges.
The authorities have issued arrest warrants for two more suspects, both 18 years old: Andrew Santos Polanco and Hamza Aini, who are currently at large. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is urged to contact 911 or provide anonymous tips through Info-Crime Montréal at 514-393-1133.
The investigation is still underway, with police indicating the possibility of more arrests and vehicle recoveries in the future.
