Heavy snowfall followed by frigid temperatures left thousands without electricity across Quebec, with the majority of outages reported in the Montreal area.
As of 9:14 a.m., Hydro-Québec says 7,034 addresses were affected, including 5,013 in Montreal. Laval reported 1,169 outages, while 175 addresses were without power in the Montérégie and 32 in the Laurentians.
The outages were concentrated mainly in Montreal’s West Island, particularly in the Dorval and Pointe-Claire areas, after heavy snow on Thursday combined with sharply colder conditions Friday.
Crews were working to restore service as conditions improved.
