“64-Year-Old Mastermind Behind Burnaby Bank Heist Arrested by Local Police”

Authorities in Burnaby have apprehended a 64-year-old man believed to be involved in a bank heist that took place in September of last year. The arrest was made during a search operation on Jan. 14 in the south end of the city, where officers not only took the suspect into custody but also confiscated two firearms.

According to reports, the suspect allegedly used a gun to break into a bank located in the Kingsway and Edmonds Street area on Sept. 26, 2025, before fleeing the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.

Details regarding the stolen items or potential injuries resulting from the armed robbery have not been disclosed by the police at this time. The Burnaby RCMP’s Strike Force Unit initiated an investigation that ultimately led to the arrest of the suspect.
