A man has been apprehended by Hamilton police following a sudden and unprovoked assault in the downtown area that resulted in severe injuries to a senior citizen.
The incident took place near King Street West, with security personnel discovering a 67-year-old man unconscious and suffering from critical head trauma around 4 p.m. on Jan. 20. Emergency responders swiftly transported the victim to the hospital, where he was placed on a ventilator and remains in critical condition.
Reportedly, the assault involved the victim being struck in the head with a closed fist, leading to his loss of consciousness and subsequent hospitalization. The alleged perpetrator, already known to the authorities, was apprehended in close proximity without resistance.
