Quebec Solidaire Shakeup: MNA Haroun Bouazzi Announces Exit from Politics in 2026 Election

Quebec Solidaire Member of the National Assembly (MNA), Haroun Bouazzi, has announced his decision to step away from political life when his term ends in October 2026. Bouazzi expressed his intention to continue advocating for social justice within civil society.

In a recent statement on Facebook, Bouazzi reflected on his belief in the collaboration between social movements and elected officials in bringing about social change. He emphasized his dedication to actively participating in this dynamic for the past 25 years.

While expressing his continued support for parliamentary action by left-wing parties, Bouazzi mentioned that he feels his calling lies elsewhere in the upcoming period. The MNA for Maurice-Richard was elected under the Quebec Solidaire banner in 2022.

In 2024, Bouazzi stirred controversy with comments about witnessing the portrayal of a perceived “Other” culture in the National Assembly, which he deemed as potentially dangerous or inferior.
