The Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) is gearing up to announce its new leader and the next premier on April 12, marking the official launch of the leadership race to succeed François Legault.
Candidates vying for the position must secure signatures from 1000 CAQ members across at least 75 ridings, with endorsements required from 15 MPs and 100 youth wing members. Additionally, a $30,000 non-refundable fee and a $150,000 spending cap on election expenses are prerequisites.
The voting process will be conducted via telephone, ensuring secrecy and utilizing a preferential ranking system. The candidate who garners over 50% of the votes will be declared the new CAQ leader at the upcoming convention.
