93-Year-Old Charged in Tragic Christmas Eve Storefront Crash That Claimed a Life in North York

Toronto authorities have pressed charges against a 93-year-old individual almost a month following a tragic incident on Christmas Eve where a vehicle crashed into a store in North York. The collision, which occurred on December 24, 2025, at around 2:28 p.m., involved a Nissan Murano driver who veered out of control upon entering a plaza at 4400 Dufferin Street. This resulted in the SUV crashing into the storefront, impacting six individuals present.

Regrettably, a 67-year-old man lost his life at the scene. Two women were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, while three others sustained minor injuries that did not necessitate hospital admission. Both the driver and a female passenger were taken to the hospital for minor injuries as well.

Recently, law enforcement officials formally charged the 93-year-old driver with three counts of careless driving causing bodily harm or death. The individual’s identity has not been disclosed, and they are set to appear in court on March 26, 2026.

Authorities have not disclosed any specific reasons for the driver’s loss of control, indicating that the investigation is ongoing.
