Chicoutimi Showdown: Tricia Murray Triumphs, Secures Seat for PLQ in Dramatic Byelection Victory!

Tricia Murray, a political attaché and native of Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean, has been announced as the Quebec Liberal Party’s candidate for the upcoming byelection in Chicoutimi. Murray previously ran in the 2022 general election in Lac-Saint-Jean but was defeated. Despite this setback, she has shown resilience and dedication, notably using her personal experiences to advocate for victims of criminal offenses.

Murray will be facing a diverse set of opponents in the upcoming election, including Marie-Karlynn Laflamme of the Parti Québécois, Catherine Morissette of the Conservative Party of Quebec, Francis Tremblay of the Coalition Avenir Québec, and Jeanne Palardy of Québec solidaire. The election, scheduled for Feb. 23, will be crucial for the Chicoutimi riding, which has historically been a stronghold for the Parti Québécois.
