Peel police in Mississauga have apprehended a driver who attempted to flee the scene of a crash and discard drugs worth $200,000. The incident unfolded on Hurontario Street and Elm Drive late in the evening on January 9. Witnesses reported a collision between a black Hyundai Elantra and a black Range Rover, with the driver of the Range Rover purportedly making a run for it on foot.
Responding swiftly, law enforcement officers, assisted by the Air Support Unit, tracked down the suspect who was seen getting rid of bags containing illegal substances believed to be fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. After a brief chase on foot, the suspect was apprehended.
Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence in Mississauga, leading to the discovery of more methamphetamine and currency. The accused, identified as 23-year-old Nitin Malik, is now facing a series of charges, including failing to stop at an accident scene, breaching a release order, and possession of illegal substances with intent to distribute.
