Authorities in Montreal are looking into a suspected case of arson following an early morning fire that occurred in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie neighborhood on Tuesday.
The incident was brought to the attention of the police just before 1 a.m. when a fire broke out at a mixed-use building on Saint-Zotique Street East close to Chabot Street. By the time law enforcement arrived, firefighters were already at the scene trying to contain the blaze.
Although no evidence of accelerants was discovered within the premises, police believe that certain clues indicate the fire was intentionally started.
Thankfully, there were no casualties reported, and as of now, no perpetrators have been apprehended.
The investigation has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson division, which is actively working to unravel the details surrounding the incident.
