Wednesday morning’s commute in Greater Montreal was met with challenging road conditions, leading to multiple accidents and traffic delays.
The slippery roads resulted in several collisions, particularly on the 20 Eastbound where a vehicle struck a lamp post, obstructing a section of the highway and prompting the closure of the Cartier exit. This incident contributed to heavy traffic on Highway 40 Eastbound.
Meanwhile, on the South Shore, numerous vehicles ended up in ditches, causing disruptions on Highway 30.
In Lasalle, a significant power outage occurred when a vehicle collided with a hydro pole, impacting around 3000 residents in the area.
Further complicating the morning commute, the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) experienced delays. The Édouard-Montpetit station was temporarily closed as a safety precaution due to elevator issues. While the problem is being addressed by the supplier, two trains were briefly held, resulting in service delays.
