Residents in Terrebonne, located in the Lanaudière region, were startled awake on a Saturday morning by the sound of gunshots.
The Terrebonne/Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Fillion Police Department was alerted to multiple reports of gunfire around 7 a.m. that same morning. Officers quickly responded to a residence on Massawippi Street, which had been the target of the gunshots.
Fortunately, an adult male inside the house was unharmed, as confirmed by Captain Vincent Charbonneau, the spokesperson for the local police force.
At this early stage of the investigation, limited information is available. It remains uncertain whether the individuals residing in the targeted property had any prior involvement with law enforcement.
Charbonneau emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation, stating, “We are in the preliminary stages of inquiry and certain details cannot be disclosed at this time.” He also mentioned that the resident present during the incident was cooperating fully with the authorities.
No immediate links to previous incidents in the area have been established, according to Charbonneau.
To thoroughly investigate the matter, the Terrebonne police dispatched investigators and forensic experts to the scene. Interviews with several individuals were conducted as part of the investigative process.
Describing the situation, Charbonneau explained, “We have a secure crime scene that is being meticulously examined. A perimeter has been set up to safeguard the area… We are actively engaging with various individuals to piece together the full picture of the incident.”
