Toronto Man Faces Charges in Bust of Major Peterborough Chop Shop Operation

Authorities in Peterborough area have apprehended a Toronto resident in connection with an illegal car parts operation. The arrest came after provincial police discovered parts from over a dozen stolen vehicles at a facility in Buckhorn, Ontario.

Peterborough County OPP, in collaboration with the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit, responded to a suspected stolen vehicle report on Jan. 29. Following this, a search warrant was issued and executed the next day at a Buckthorn, Ont. location.

During the operation, law enforcement recovered the stolen vehicle and uncovered parts from at least 13 newer model vehicles that had been dismantled and packaged for transportation. Additionally, several license plates from previously stolen vehicles were found at the scene.

The 41-year-old man from Toronto has been arrested and faces charges of possessing property obtained through criminal means exceeding $5,000. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
