The Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) has revealed a tragic incident in a Brossard home where a femicide was followed by a suicide. The SPAL announced on Tuesday that their investigation led to the conclusion that 54-year-old Sonia Maricela Gonzalez Vasquez was tragically killed before 56-year-old Marcos Amilcar Diaz Lopez took his own life.
Authorities had previously visited the home before being called to the scene around 12:45 a.m. on Monday, where they discovered two bodies with signs of violence. This heartbreaking incident marks the sixth case of domestic violence reported in Quebec in 2026.
