Authorities Seek Help in Finding Missing Activist Masood Masjoody
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is reaching out to the public for assistance in locating Masood Masjoody, a 45-year-old individual who has gone missing under mysterious circumstances.
According to police, Masjoody’s disappearance is considered out of the ordinary and there are suspicions of criminal involvement. However, authorities have ruled out any links to gang activity or extortion.
IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong stated, “We do not believe Masood’s disappearance to be a random event.” Fong mentioned that Masjoody has been known for his activism, particularly regarding events in Iran, and investigators are exploring potential connections between his disappearance and his activist background.
Despite this, Fong emphasized that this aspect is just one angle being looked into, and the investigation will cover all relevant leads.
The Burnaby RCMP initiated the investigation after concerns were raised by neighbors regarding Masjoody’s well-being. Police are urging anyone with information concerning Masjoody’s whereabouts to come forward.
“We believe there are individuals close to Masood who may possess vital information but have not yet contacted us,” Fong urged.
IHIT specializes in cases involving homicides, suspicious deaths, and high-risk missing individuals where foul play is suspected. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448).
