Mirabel Police Officer Faces Justice in Court Over Assault Charges

Earlier this month, Officer Laurent Charest from the Mirabel police force made a court appearance in connection with an assault investigation conducted by Quebec’s Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI).

Officer Charest was present at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse on January 9 to address a single charge of assault, reportedly stemming from an incident that took place in 2025 at the Mirabel police station.

The BEI, whose focus includes probing criminal accusations against police officers with complainants from First Nations or Inuit backgrounds, is also tasked with investigating allegations of sexual misconduct by officers while on duty.

Further information on this case has not been disclosed at this point.
