Transport Quebec has announced the commencement of the first phase of reconstruction on the Highway 520 (Côte-de-Liesse) overpass spanning Cavendish Boulevard.
Motorists should prepare for significant traffic disruptions in the coming weeks, with the initial phase scheduled to kick off on Feb. 10. The eastbound Highway 520 expressways and service lanes from Barr Street to Dalton Road will experience partial closures during this period.
Notably, heavy vehicles will be unable to make right turns from Barr Street onto Highway 520 from Feb. 20 to 23.
The overpass reconstruction project will comprise a total of four phases. Phase two is slated to take place from March to September, involving the complete closure of Côte-de-Liesse Road westbound (Isabey to Migneron streets) and eastbound (Merizzi Street to Dalton Road).
Traffic will be redirected to the expressways during this phase, while Cavendish Boulevard will have one lane open in each direction during the day and a full closure at night for overpass demolition. Southbound Isabey Street will also be inaccessible.
Phase three is expected to run from September to December, with phase four anticipated in Spring 2027. Detailed updates on these phases will be provided by Transport Quebec closer to their commencement dates.
Given the possibility of weather-related delays, drivers are advised to monitor Québec 511 for real-time traffic updates before embarking on their journeys.
