“High School Crisis Averted: Armed Man Arrested at Longueuil Campus”

On Friday, an individual was apprehended for entering a Longueuil high school with a bladed weapon during an apparent dispute with another person on the school premises.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 12:30 p.m. about a possible armed altercation at École secondaire Jacques-Rousseau. Upon arrival, police found that school staff had already subdued the suspect.

The suspect, an adult with a history known to law enforcement, was reportedly in possession of a bladed object. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Jacqueline Pierre, spokesperson for the Longueuil agglomeration police service (SPAL), mentioned that the situation unfolded rapidly, causing minimal disruption to students’ activities. The school remained operational without the need for evacuation or establishing a security perimeter.

According to police, the alleged victim did not sustain any injuries, and initial findings suggest that both individuals involved are affiliated with the school, although this is still being verified.

The arrested suspect is now in police custody and is expected to be interrogated by investigators. Additionally, other witnesses and individuals related to the case will be interviewed as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have filmed the incident to share the footage with them either through 911 or school officials. This is crucial for the investigation to gather more details and clarify the circumstances of the event.

The investigation into the matter is continuing.
