A former employee of the Quebec Automobile Insurance Corporation (SAAQ) was recently apprehended for illegally accessing government computer systems.
François Dagenais has been charged with unauthorized computer use, tampering with computer data, and breach of trust, as announced by the Commissioner for the Fight Against Corruption (CLCC) on Monday.
Dagenais, who has been granted release pending his court appearance, is set to face charges at the Montreal courthouse on May 20. It is important to note that the allegations against him have yet to be proven in court.
The investigation conducted by CLCC revealed that Dagenais allegedly accessed and modified information within the SAAQ system linked to an acquaintance and their family members. These purported activities occurred between March 31, 2023, and January 26, 2024.
