A tragic incident unfolded at a Scarborough Tim Hortons last week when 16-year-old Kian Sam was fatally shot, and a 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident. The shooting took place at Lawrence Avenue East and Bellamy Road North around 4 p.m. on Feb. 5, where the victim was found with gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, Sam sadly succumbed to his wounds.
Charged with second-degree murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of a loaded regulated firearm, the 15-year-old Toronto boy faced court on Tuesday. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his identity cannot be revealed.
Sam, a student-athlete at Agincourt Collegiate Institute, had ambitious dreams of earning a bachelor’s degree and playing basketball at the highest levels. His untimely death marks Toronto’s second homicide of 2026.
