The recent coroner’s inquest in British Columbia has revealed the tragic fate of a family of four in Prince Rupert, with conclusions pointing towards a combination of homicide and suicide.

During the investigation, it was confirmed that 38-year-old Christopher Duong’s cause of death was determined to be self-inflicted wounds to the neck. The jury’s recommendations included a call for authorities to be alerted when individuals detained under the Mental Health Act are released from hospitals.

The distressing incident unfolded on June 13, 2023, when Duong, who had been brought in by police under the Mental Health Act, was subsequently let go hours later. This heartbreaking event resulted in the loss of Duong, his wife Janet Nguyen, and their two young sons.
