A woman from British Columbia is bravely sharing her family’s harrowing experience following a tragic incident in the remote town of Tumbler Ridge. The authorities have labeled it as one of the most devastating mass shootings in the history of British Columbia and Canada.
Local law enforcement swiftly responded to the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School on Tuesday, urging residents to stay indoors for hours as they investigated the active shooter situation. The community was left in shock as news of casualties and injuries circulated, with around 25 individuals reported as either injured or in need of medical attention.
Krysta Hunt has revealed that her cousin’s daughter, 12-year-old Maya, was among those injured in the incident. Maya was airlifted to Vancouver for emergency medical treatment. Hunt, deeply shaken by the news, described the severity of Maya’s injuries, emphasizing the critical condition she is currently in.
Despite the distance from her family residing in Tumbler Ridge, Hunt has taken a proactive step by initiating a fundraiser to support her cousin and Maya during this challenging time. The generosity of donors has already exceeded $18,000 on Hunt’s GoFundMe page.
While the authorities have yet to disclose the identities of other victims involved, the grim discovery of eight individuals, including the perpetrator, found dead within the school premises, as well as two more deceased in a nearby residence, has left the community reeling from this tragic event.
