Authorities are seeking three individuals in connection to a series of fires in Markham and Stouffville, as per the latest update from York police.
According to reports, the initial arson incident took place on Feb. 11 at approximately 2 a.m. A white Audi SUV, believed to be linked to the suspects, was spotted in the vicinity of Highway 7 East and Ninth Line in Markham. Witnesses observed two individuals allegedly breaking into a business and attempting to set it ablaze.
Fortunately, no injuries were sustained in the incident, and the fire extinguished on its own.
Shortly after, the same suspect vehicle was sighted near Ringwood Drive and Main Street in Whitchurch-Stouffville around 3:30 a.m. Two suspects were once again caught on camera breaking into a business and trying to start a fire. Following a similar pattern, the fire put itself out, and the suspects made a swift getaway.
Both targeted establishments were unoccupied at the time, and no casualties were reported, as confirmed by York police.
The search intensifies for the trio, as the driver of the Audi remained inside the vehicle during both incidents.
Descriptions provided by investigators include the first suspect wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, track pants, white footwear, and grey gloves. The second suspect was dressed in a blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, and white gloves.
There is currently no available description for the third suspect.
