Tragic Incident: Surrey Intersection Shut Down Following Fatal Accident Involving Pedestrian

Surrey authorities are actively investigating a tragic incident where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver for the second time in just over 12 hours.

The Surrey Police Service swiftly responded to a collision report near the intersection of 132 Street and 104 Avenue at approximately 7:30 a.m. First responders, including Surrey Fire Services and BCEHS, rushed to the scene. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian, a 45-year-old woman, tragically passed away due to her injuries, as confirmed by police later that Thursday morning.

This heartbreaking event follows another fatal incident on Wednesday evening, where an 81-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on 102 Avenue near Whalley Boulevard.

The Surrey Police Service has stated that in both cases, the drivers involved cooperated with authorities and remained at the scene.

Regarding the collision on Thursday morning, authorities mentioned that impairment does not seem to be a factor at the moment. However, the exact cause of the incident remains unknown as the investigation is still in its early stages.

To facilitate the investigation process, a portion of 132 Street and the intersection will likely be closed for an extended period.
