A tragic incident occurred last week at the Vorlage Centre in Outaouais, where a young skier was involved in a chairlift accident and has now tragically passed away.
The ski resort confirmed the heartbreaking news on Sunday, revealing that the young skier, who was seriously injured during a school trip, has succumbed to her injuries.
The incident took place at the Wakefield ski resort in La Pêche around 2:10 p.m. on the fateful day. Reports suggest that as the young skier was dismounting the chairlift, her clothing became entangled, leading to the accident.
Following the accident, the injured skier was first taken to a local hospital and later transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) for further treatment.
The Vorlage Centre, which has been closed since the incident, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, extending heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the young skier during this difficult time.
Despite initial plans for a partial reopening at the beginning of the week, the ski resort decided to delay the reopening in light of the tragic event. The focus now remains on supporting the affected individuals and ensuring a careful and respectful return to normal operations.
