“Montreal’s Tourism Triumph: City Welcomes Nearly 12 Million Visitors in Record-Breaking 2025 Comeback!”

Montreal’s Tourism Sees Record Growth in 2025

Montreal saw a record-breaking year in 2025, welcoming 11.9 million visitors, marking a significant 7.3% increase from the previous year. The latest annual report from Tourisme Montréal, released on Tuesday, highlighted the city’s ability to thrive in the face of global uncertainties.

The growth in tourism was mainly driven by a robust domestic market, with Canadian travellers leading the way at 8.8 million visitors, representing a notable 10% increase from 2024. Notably, Atlantic Canada witnessed the highest surge in visitors, posting a remarkable 17% growth.

While U.S. arrivals experienced a slight decline of five percent, international markets showed a positive trend, particularly with France leading the pack with over 470,000 visitors.

In response to shifting travel trends in an unpredictable economic landscape, the tourism sector witnessed a shift towards shorter booking windows, averaging 50 days compared to the usual 90 days.

Despite the challenges, tourist spending remained steady at $5.8 billion, with a significant portion allocated to food and accommodation expenses. Montreal hotels reported high occupancy rates, with over 90 days exceeding 80%, showcasing a seven percent increase from the previous year despite a four percent growth in available rooms.

Moreover, Montreal’s official tourism website, MTL.org, experienced a surge in online traffic, attracting 11.8 million visits in 2025, marking a substantial 14.5% increase from the previous year.
