Thirty outstanding individuals, including renowned hockey figure Don Cherry and tech mogul Edward Rogers, have been honored with the prestigious Order of Ontario.
The new recipients were announced by Lt.-Gov. Edith Dumont for the 2025 appointments, recognizing their significant contributions to the well-being of Ontarians. Among the recipients are trade union leader Joe Mancinelli from the Labourers’ International Union of North America and former U.S. ambassador David MacNaughton.
Dumont praised the appointees for embodying the essence of excellence within the province, representing a diverse range of sectors including business, academia, culture, and law. Notable figures such as former chief justice of Ontario George Strathy and Toronto International Film Festival CEO Cameron Bailey are among the esteemed list.
Selections for the Order of Ontario are meticulously chosen by an independent advisory board, ensuring a fair and thorough decision-making process. Since its inception in 1986, over 900 exceptional individuals have received this prestigious honor.
