“Quebec Luminary Hailed: Kelley Celebrates Marwah Rizqy as Among Greatest MNAs Ever”

Quebec Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Gregory Kelley shared a touching tribute to his wife and fellow MNA Marwah Rizqy on Thursday following the announcement by the new Liberal leader, Charles Milliard, that Rizqy would not be rejoining the party caucus in Saint-Laurent.

In a heartfelt moment with reporters at the National Assembly, a visibly emotional Kelley expressed, “I will proudly tell my children that their father had the privilege of working alongside one of Quebec’s finest MNAs in history.”

Kelley had previously hoped for his wife’s return to the caucus but gracefully accepted the leader’s decision, commending Rizqy’s dedication and contributions as an MNA. Despite this development, Kelley affirmed his commitment to remaining part of the Liberal team, emphasizing that it aligns with the wishes of his constituents in Jacques-Cartier.

Background:
Rizqy faced expulsion from the Liberal caucus last December under former leader Pablo Rodriguez’s administration after dismissing her chief of staff, Geneviève Hinse. This incident sparked a crisis that led to Rodriguez’s resignation amid allegations of financial irregularities in his leadership campaign, prompting an investigation by the Unité permanente anticorruption (UPAC).

Hinse subsequently initiated legal action against Rizqy, seeking $500,000 in damages for her termination. Milliard’s recent decision not to reinstate Rizqy in the caucus was based on the ongoing investigations and information gaps regarding the previous months’ events.

Prior to these developments, Rizqy had announced her decision not to seek re-election in 2026.
