Driver injured after crashing into tree in Burnaby

The Burnaby RCMP is investigating after a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.

Mounties say officers were called to Willingdon Avenue north of Price Street or Wildwood Crescent around 2 p.m.

Emergency crews found the driver of a pickup truck who had crashed into a tree.

BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics took the driver to hospital in “critical condition.”

“It is early in the investigation, however, impairment and speed are not believed to be contributing factors,” police explained Monday.

Willingdon Avenue was temporarily closed to traffic, but has since reopened. The Burnaby RCMP says its investigation is ongoing.
