Montrealers held different rallies supporting and denouncing the U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran Saturday.
Palestinian Youth Movement organised a rally in front of the Israeli Consulate, condemning the strikes and calling them an attack on a sovereign nation.
Just across the street, a smaller group of counter-protestors rallied chanting “Thank you USA” in support of the intervention, echoing earlier pleas from Iranians fighting against the dictatorship.
Finally, members of the Iranian community have gathered for their own demonstration downtown, waving the Lion and Sun flags, with some American and Israeli flags were visible in the crowd as well.
Some Iranians have expressed hope that the military intervention will help overthrow the regime after months of anti-government protests and deadly crackdown on opposition in the country.
