Montreal weather: Cold snap to start the week before taste of spring

The extreme cold that returned over the weekend will continue into Monday with spring-like weather later in the week for spring break.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says Montrealers woke up to minus-19 Celsius Monday morning.

The day will be sunny with a high of minus-7 C and wind chill of minus-13 by the afternoon. Clouds roll in by evening with a low of minus-12 C and wind chill feeling like minus-17 C overnight.

Tuesday will be increasingly cloudy with temperatures warming to a high of 1 C, a preview for the rest of the week where highs will remain in the positive. Tuesday’s low though will dip to minus-6 C with cloudy skies continuing overnight.

Wednesday will be sunny with highs forecast to be 7 C, giving Montrealers a brief taste of spring. The night will be clear with a low of minus-4 C.

Thursday will also be sunny with a high of 4 C and a low of minus-3 C. Freezing rain is possible at night.

Friday brings freezing rain or rain with a high of 3 C and a low of 3 C.
