Montreal police (SPVM) said a 71-year-old pedestrian died Sunday following a collision with an SUV in Montreal’s Ahunsic-Cartierville borough.
SPVM said they received a 911 call at around 7:20 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, about the collision on Grenet Street, near Mésy Street.
When the police arrived, they found the victim was unconscious. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he died the following day.
The driver, a 59 year-old man, was heading north on Grenet Street. He was not injured and remained on scene after the accident, police said.
SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said according to initial reports, the victim was crossing Grenet Street when he may have felt ill and fell on the ground.
“And at that moment, that’s where the vehicle came into collision with that pedestrian,” Brabant added.
The investigation is ongoing.
