19-year-old charged in connection to weekend homicide in Ville-Marie borough

Montreal police (SPVM) say a 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of an 18-year-old in the Ville-Marie borough over the weekend.

SPVM said they received a 911 call around 1:45 a.m. about a person being injured in an apartment on Saint-André Street, near Ontario Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the teen unconscious and suffering from upper-body injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils confirmed that the death is the third homicide in Montreal in 2026.

Through an investigation, the Major Crimes Unit took a 19-year-old man into custody in the Ville-Marie borough on Monday evening.

The 19-year-old was charged Tuesday, and remains in custody.
