Rain expected in Montreal as spring break comes to an end

Residents can expect changing weather conditions over the coming days as the final weekend of spring break arrives.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected today, with a high of 4 Celsius and northeast winds around 20 km/h. The wind chill could reach minus-17 C this morning.

Clouds will move in tonight as rain begins overnight, with about 5 mm expected. Winds will strengthen from the southeast at 30 km/h, gusting up to 50 km/h, while temperatures remain steady near 4 C.

Rain will continue Saturday, with 5 to 10 mm forecast and a high of 9 C. Winds will shift from the southeast to the southwest by midday, with showers expected to continue into the evening.

The wet and windy conditions are expected as spring break comes to an end for many students in the region.

Sunday will remain cloudy and windy with a high of 5 C, followed by clearing skies overnight and a low of 2 C.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected Monday and Tuesday with highs near 13 C, though there is a 60 per cent chance of showers Tuesday. Rain showers or flurries are possible Tuesday night with a low of minus-1 C.

The midweek forecast calls for snow or rain Wednesday with a high of 2 C, followed by snow overnight and a low of minus-2 C.

Forecasters say temperatures will fluctuate throughout the week as the region transitions toward more typical late-winter conditions
