A 25-year-old woman has died after an SUV slammed into the back of a city bus in Montreal’s Montreal-Nord borough on Saturday evening.
According to Montreal police, the crash occurred just before 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of Henri-Bourassa Blvd. and Salk Ave. Officials say the STM bus was stopped at a bus stop when it was struck from behind by the SUV.
The woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was initially transported to hospital in critical condition but later died from her injuries. The 29-year-old driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries.
No passengers on the bus were hurt in the collision.
Investigators say the exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and speaking with witnesses as the investigation continues.
