A 64-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle late Friday night in Montreal’s Saint-Leonard borough.
Montreal police (SPVM) say the collision happened around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Jarry Street and Lacordaire Boulevard.
Emergency calls to 911 reported a pedestrian on the ground after being hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they located the injured man at the scene. He was conscious and transported to hospital.
Police say the man suffered significant injuries but his life is not believed to be in danger.
The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old woman, was not injured but was treated for shock.
According to preliminary information, the SUV was travelling on Lacordaire Boulevard and turning onto Jarry Street when the pedestrian was struck while crossing the intersection.
A security perimeter was set up to protect the scene while investigators analyzed the collision and worked to determine the exact circumstances.
Police say witnesses were met at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
