Motorists in the Montreal area should prepare for significant overnight traffic disruptions this weekend as the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel undergoes scheduled maintenance work.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has announced that the tunnel will be closed from Friday at 11 p.m. until Saturday morning at 8 a.m. During this period, Highway 25 Montreal will be completely closed between Exit 90 and the entrance from Sherbrooke Street East. Exit 3 Notre-Dame and Hochelaga streets will also be inaccessible.
In the southbound direction, Highway 25 will be closed between Exit 5 and the entrance from Île Charron will be closed within the same overnight window.
Additional closures are planned later in the weekend. Highway 20 westbound will be shut down overnight from Saturday at 10 p.m. until Sunday at 9 a.m., between Exit 102 and the entrance from Armand-Frappier Boulevard.
Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area and plan alternative routes to minimize delays.
