A shooting outside a martial arts studio in Etobicoke early Thursday morning triggered a police pursuit that ended with a vehicle crashing into the front yard of a home near Royal York Road and North Drive.
Police were called to the Islington Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard area around 3:30 a.m. for reports of gunfire. Officers arriving at the scene found evidence of gunshots near a commercial premises on the north side of Lake Shore, where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is located. No injuries were reported.
According to 680 NewsRadio, shots were fired at or near the martial arts studio before a shooter or multiple shooters fled in a vehicle, prompting a police pursuit through residential streets. The chase continued toward the Royal York Road corridor, where the fleeing vehicle lost control.
Photos from the scene show a heavily damaged vehicle in the front yard of a home near Royal York Road and North Drive, south of Eglinton Avenue West. Police say the suspect or suspects ran from the vehicle on foot. No injuries were reported at the home.
Police have not released descriptions of the individuals involved or details on whether a firearm was recovered, and the investigation is ongoing.
