A 94-year-old man died Friday evening after being struck by a pickup truck in Saint-Basile-le-Grand, in Montérégie.
The pedestrian was walking along the side of Route 116 and Rue de Lombardie, said Jean-Michel Juteau, lieutenant with the Richelieu–Saint-Laurent Intermunicipal Police Board, on Saturday morning.
The 94-year-old was struck by an F-250 pickup truck and suffered severe head injuries.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
An investigation into the accident was still ongoing as of Saturday morning, according to Sûreté du Québec.
