Man charged after shooting, crash in Surrey

Police say a man is in custody, suspected of a shooting that led to a vehicle crash in Surrey’s City Centre last month.

On March 24, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it responded to reports of a collision on University Drive near Central Avenue.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

But further investigation revealed the victim was also suffering a gunshot wound, allegedly shot while driving north.

The SPS says its investigators identified and arrested a suspect.

Last week, the BC Prosecution Service approved one count each of reckless discharge of a firearm, assault, using an immitation firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and failing to comply with a release order against a 42-year-old man.

The SPS says the man remains in custody until his next court appearance scheduled for April 17.
