Burnaby high school goes into a ‘hold and secure’ mode

For the fifth time in a month, Burnaby North Secondary School went into a hold and secure protocol due to an external potential threat.

On Thursday afternoon, Burnaby RCMP officers responded to a reported threat that was external to the school, located at 751 Hammarskjold Drive.

Police cleared the area and the school.

The threat was deemed to not be credible.

The Burnaby school district informed parents via an emailed letter later in the day.

The investigation is ongoing.

This event follows four previous uncredible threats at Burnaby North Secondary School on March 9, 12, 31 and April 1.

In all cases, Mounties were in constant communication with the school and Burnaby School District.

In a statement from the Burnaby RCMP, the maintain that all incidents remain under active investigation.
