The Administrative Labour Tribunal is intervening at the request of Urgences-Santé, after it argued that paramedics violated an agreement on essential services provided for during strike action.
The strike by Urgences-Santé paramedics, members of the Confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN) union, began in July 2025 and included a list of essential services to be maintained.
However, in early April, Urgences-Santé asked the Tribunal to intervene, saying that paramedics had refused to follow rules about which hospitals they were required to transport patients, instead letting their charges make the decision themselves.
Urgences-Santé also claimed the paramedics were no longer complying with rules regarding remote death certification or clinical intervention forms.
After hearing the evidence, the Tribunal ruled in favour of the employer, stating that the pressure tactics in fact violated the essential services agreement.
