Suspected arson under investigation after fire in NDG commercial building

Montreal police are investigating a suspected arson at a commercial building in the city’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood.

Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly after 1:15 a.m. Saturday, police said, following a fire alarm at a building on Somerled Avenue near Bessborough Avenue.

The SPVM said that firefighters were already working to bring the blaze under control when they arrived on the scene.

Authorities say one or more suspects broke into second-floor offices and deliberately set the fire before fleeing the scene.

Investigators found incendiary materials inside the building, which sustained significant damage.

No injuries have been reported.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
