Man in his thirties dies in collision in Saint-Hyacinthe

A collision between a pickup truck and a heavy vehicle killed one person Saturday afternoon in Saint-Hyacinthe, in the Montérégie region.

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) des Maskoutains were called to the scene of this collision, on the Grand Rang, shortly before 4:30 p.m.

“The driver of a pickup truck would have swerved from his lane to find himself in the opposite lane, where there would have been an impact with a road tractor,” explained Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, information officer for the SQ.

The driver of the van, a man in his thirties, was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation is underway to clarify the causes and circumstances of this event.
