Two men shot and wounded in overnight fight in Montreal

Two men were shot and wounded during a fight involving several people in front of a licensed establishment in Montreal.

The event occurred shortly before 1:45 a.m. on Sunday in front of the business located on Guy Street, near Sainte-Catherine Street, in the Ville-Marie borough. Several people called 911 when the shots rang out.

“When the police arrived on the scene, they located the two victims, two men aged 26 and 38. They were both conscious and they had gunshot wounds to the lower body,” said Constable Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

Both men were taken to hospital but are not feared for their lives.

A security perimeter was set up to protect the scene and several witnesses were met by the police.

“The suspect or suspects fled on foot before the arrival of the police (…) There are no arrests at this time,” said Constable Chèvrefils.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians were called to the scene to try to clarify the circumstances of the event.

“Checks will be made on the possible surveillance cameras located near the scene,” said the SPVM spokesperson.

The investigation is ongoing.
