Man charged after 70-year-old woman slashed at Burnaby SkyTrain station

One man has been charged after a slashing attack on a woman at Burnaby SkyTrain station in September.

The Metro Vancouver Transit Police (MVTP) says a physical altercation broke out at Metrotown Station just before noon on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025.

“A 70-year-old woman, who was standing nearby and not involved in the dispute, was slashed in the leg with an edged weapon during the fight,” MVTP said at the time.

“The individuals who were involved in the fight then fled the scene.”

Shortly after, police arrested two men and a woman and found two weapons nearby.

In an update Thursday, police say the BC Prosecution Service has charged a 39-year-old man with one count of unlawfully causing bodily in relation to the incident.

Transit police say all three suspects remain in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
